Web Pilot Update March 2012

Things are progressing again, I have the spec script ready to shoot, the artwork, casting breakdowns, and a theme song. Financing as you imaging is the biggest challenge but I have leads to follow up on this week. I have some amazing friends in the film business including art directors, cinematographers, and writers, so I am absolutely loving the process.

I will be launching the site for my new film production company in the next couple weeks, everything web series related will be done under the new company name.

Web Series Pilot Update

Set for a 2012 launch, casting to begin in February, principle photography set for spring in NYC and Pittsburgh. That’s all I can say right now, look for the official web site and social media launch soon. My duties with the Manhattan Short Film Festival have me booked through mid October, so we are gearing up for 2012.

Love Roulette the Short Film

This was the first film I made on my own outside of film school. This was a fun shoot. The idea came to me when I was asleep, I kept thinking of when I first moved to New York City and how in awe I was just walking around Times Square. Working with my friends from NYFA and fellow Section B Films, LLC members Stephan Pakula and Dan Chen was great, always enjoy the chance to work with good people.

This was shot on a Panasonic HVX200 HD. I liked the idea of filming in HD, the quality was sharp, the film has some shadowing issue, but I think the setting in the hotel room is a bit forgiving.

About the film: John (geoph essex) comes to New York City looking for an experience to tell all his friends about and gets more than he bargained for.

Cast: geoph essex, liz mead, and angela halerz. DP Stephan Pakula.

vs. the earth music video

I produced the music video for the band ‘vs the earth’. My first venture into the world of producing was a mixture of fun and stress, but it all worked out. The video was for their song “Better Off Dead”, and starred Mindy Hall from VH1′s Rock of Love. Special thanks to Mikko Timonen and Erin Judd from No Frames for their incredible vision and desire to make a kick ass video. Kelly Diaz, our art director did an amazing job and brought flare and style to our upstairs scenes.

The entire video was filmed at The Collective Hardware in New York. This was the perfect place to film and the staff was absolutely amazing, extremely helpful and a great bunch of people. Big thanks to Ronnie, Stuart, Sage, Kevin, and Gabe for standing in and taking a bottle to the head.

The crew did a great job, very professional and hard working.

VTE is comprised of Adam Marino, Eric Swander (“Dawg”) , Mike Ritchey (“Ritchey”), and Elliot Wiley. VTE has been invited to play along side bands such as Breaking Benjamin, Everclear, Fuel, and Gin Blossoms – among many. In addition, the band is sponsored by PRS Guitars.
